Cane should not be burned on windless days

Whatever happened to no-burn days? Several days in one week, I have seen the island covered in a cloud of smoke for several hours to most of a day because cane was burned when there was virtually no wind.

I work on a boat and it’s so sad to look at the smoky island and have to explain to tourists why is looks and smells so bad. Used to be they didn’t burn without there being enough wind to blow it off, but now they burn the cane seemingly without any regard.

As long as this antiquated practice is going to continue they at least need to adhere to no-wind-no-burn days.
